Valentine's Day Cards for Senior Citizens

So on Thursday I helped create some Valentine's Day cards to give to Senior citizens. Someone involved with community service around nursing homes provided cards and paper hearts, which was very nice of her. It was fun making the cards and exercising my creativity. I didn't make more than three I think because I was taking a long time on each. Someone half made a card and wanted to throw it away but I took it and finished it so that the paper wouldn't be wasted. The card wasn't bad at all actually and turned out fine. I hope that whoever receives the cards likes them- I don't know if they will but I'd be interested to know their reaction to them. I'd love to continue making cards if I can later, I've made thank-you cards for my teachers this year and I enjoy the activity.

Piano/ Vocal Lessons

So I've been taking piano & voice for some time now and it's been the best. Although I think the CAS system is flawed, I am grateful that it pushed me to try this, as I've been wanting to for years. CAS was a great excuse to start. I'll admit that before August 2011 my practicing was a bit uneven as far as piano went. Sometimes I did, sometimes I didn't, it was easier to practice voice. But after becoming tired of attempting to play the same songs every week without much progress I decided to start practicing everyday. Soon it became easier to do and since August I've practiced on the piano nearly every day and every week I have no trouble playing what I practiced the last. I really enjoy it too, it was just a matter of getting into the habit so I could progress. As for voice it's been going pretty well. I work on matching pitches and singing with the piano. After I'd been doing well we took some video in September, and since then we've taken some more before Christmas because I've been doing even better. One thing that I did for the first time on my own that I've always wanted to do is post a video of me singing on youtube. It doesn't seem like much but I'm glad I did it. The only problem is that the video quality is very bad because I used a webcam and the sound and voice don't match up. I'll leave a link to my channel here: www.youtube.com/user/13Umbrellas/feed
When my other videos work out, I'll post them as well.
See you later!

Thanksgiving Potluck

Well, I'd like to clarify that I wrote this reflection a long time ago but it was deleted in the process and so now I am rewriting it. The Thanksgiving Potluck will hopefully become an annual event at our school, as this November we did it for the first time and though organizing it was a challenge, it was a success. I was in charge of decorations and so asked my Boum Committee for help. As usual the ever-enthusiastic Cody offered to help me. That week we spent some hours after school creating banners for the potluck. I brought white paper (the same I used for the Boum Committee banner) and lots of paint. Cody was very helpful and I felt grateful. I also spent time at Big Lots looking for clearance Thanksgiving Decorations and found these wonderful fall leaf garlands. During the Potluck when the our school's "Give Thanks" video was played, Cody and I quickly tacked up a couple garlands to frame the white sheet where the movie was being projected. During the potluck I was presented with a rose for my efforts, which was very sweet of the Student Government President. I definitely had fun with this project and would certainly offer to help out with future school events.
